The African Youth Development Fund held its annual volunteer training camp from Monday the 28th of January until Friday February 2nd, 2013.  The camp was held at the picturesque Rocky Valley Christian Camp & Retreat Centre.  The purpose of the camp is to form the new team of volunteers into a cohesive unit that will support each other in the school environment where the life skills lessons are given to the township youth.

Program managers Nhlanhla Nxumalo, and Njabulo Mazibuko, lead the week long training and team building, along with contributions from Base Malinga also of AYDF management team.  The new volunteers soaked up the training, conquered fears, and learned new team building techniques that will help them in the classroom.  More outgoing volunteers emerged as leaders while the most reserved of the group also found his voice and gained new confidence amongst his peers.

The Training was a massive success, and the change of environment from crowded township to the beauteous nature retreat was beneficial both mentally and spiritually to the new volunteers.  All the volunteers expressed how they felt rejuvenated and empowered by the training.  AYDF is excited and confident about this new cycle of volunteers, and what they will bring to the Program.
